Title:
CLOSED BREATHER DISCONNECTION DETECTION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/068949
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A disconnection detection method for a closed breather (18) that extracts blow-by gas (17) from an engine (1), separates and recovers oil mist, and then returns the blow-by gas to an intake pipe (5) via a return pipe (19), wherein, when exhaust gas (9) is not being recirculated the mass flow rate of the working gas in the cylinders is calculated on the basis of the boost pressure, the intake temperature of the intake manifold (7), and the engine rotational frequency, and a determination is made as to whether the calculated value for the mass flow rate diverges from a detection value from an air flow sensor (24). When it is determined that the calculated value diverges, the deviation in the previous determination and the deviation in the current determination are compared, and if the amount of change between the two deviations has increased so as to exceed a prescribed range, it is determined that a disconnection state wherein the gas return pipe (19) is disconnected from the intake pipe (5) exists.
