Abstract:
In order to provide a cloud observation device which can predict the probability of sunshine at a reduced calculation cost using a simple method, this cloud observation device (11) is provided with: an image acquisition unit (12) which acquires an image (G1) of the sky captured by a camera; a cloud extraction unit (13) which extracts a cloud in the image (G1); a sun identification unit (14) which identifies the solar position (S1) in the image (G1); a determination area setting unit (16) which sets determination areas (Ar1, Ar4-12) having the solar position (S1) as a base point thereof in the image (G1); and a sunshine computation unit (17) which computes the probability of sunshine after a prescribed amount of time has passed on the basis of the determination areas and the extracted cloud.
