Abstract:
When engagement of a dog clutch is requested, this clutch control device ensures both 4-wheel drive performance and energy economy. The system for transmitting drive force to the left and right rear wheels (19, 20) comprises a dog clutch (8) and an electronically controlled coupling (16), and a 4WD control unit (34) is provided which, when there is a request to engage the dog clutch (8), controls starting engaging the dog clutch (8), which is in a disengagement state, after a rotation synchronization state is brought about by increasing the output rotation of the dog clutch (8) by engaging the electronically controlled coupling (16). In this clutch control device for a 4-wheel drive vehicle, in a state in which a "disconnect 2-wheel drive mode" is selected, when there is a request to engage the dog clutch (8), a 4WD control unit (34) sets the engagement start timing of the electronically controlled coupling (16) for transition to a "connect 4-wheel drive mode" to an earlier timing than for transition to a "stand-by 2-wheel drive mode."
