Abstract:
A clutch comprises: a rotor that has steel as the base material and that is rotated by the rotary driving force from a drive source; and an armature (20) that has steel as the base material and by which the rotary driving force is transmitted by way of being attracted to the rotor by the magnetic force. The armature has a contact face region (42) containing a contact face (20a) to contact the mating side when the armature is attracted to the rotor. The contact face region has a plurality of holes (42a) that are opened in the contact face. A nitride compound of an element in the base material is generated by a nitriding reaction in portions of the base material in the contact face region. The contact face region is harder than portions (45) in the base material not subject to the nitriding reaction.
