Abstract:
A first problem that is to be solved by the present invention is to prolong the life of a CO-selective methanation catalyst, and a second problem is to heighten the percentage of CO removal with the CO-selective methanation catalyst to thereby reduce the outlet CO concentration in a wide temperature range to a low value. According to the present invention, provided is a CO-selective methanation catalyst which comprises: a supported metal catalyst with which the CO contained in a hydrogen-rich gas that contains CO and CO2 is selectively converted into methane; and a coating layer which covers the surface of the supported metal catalyst and has a large number of pores and which has been configured so that the CO concentration on the surface of the supported metal catalyst is reduced.
