Abstract:

Provided is a coated cutting tool capable of satisfactory processing for a long time particularly in processing of difficult-to-machine materials having low thermal conductivity. This coated cutting tool includes a base material and a coating layer formed on the surface of the base material, wherein at least one layer of the coating layer includes a predetermined layer containing a compound having the composition represented by the formula (Al×Ti1-x)N (where x represents the atomic ratio of elemental Al with respect to the total of elemental Al and elemental Ti, and the expression 0.60 ≤ x ≤ 0.85 is satisfied), the value of an orientation index TC(311) of the cubic (311) plane of the predetermined layer is 2.5 to 4.2, and the average thickness of the predetermined layer is 1.0 µm to 12.0 µm.
