Abstract:
A coated cutting tool including a base material and a coating layer formed on the surface of the base material, wherein the coating layer has an alternating layered structure in which a first composite nitride layer containing a compound having a composition represented by (TixAl1-x)N [where x represents the atomic ratio of elemental Ti to the total of elemental Ti and elemental Al and satisfies the expression 0.10 ≤ x ≤ 0.35] and a second composite nitride layer having a composition represented by(TiyAlzM1-y-z)N [where M represents at least one species of element selected from Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Si, and Y, and the expressions 0.30 ≤ y ≤ 0.90, 0.10 ≤ z ≤ 0.70, and y + z ≤ 1 are satisfied] are layered in alternating fashion, and the first composite nitride layer includes a phase having a lattice constant of 0.400 nm to 0.430 nm and a phase having a lattice constant of 0.755 nm to 0.810 nm.
