This coated plated steel material comprises a steel material and a coating material that is on the surface of the steel material. The coating material has, sequentially from the side closer to the steel material, a plating layer, a coating base preparation layer that is on the surface of the plating layer, and an organic coating layer that is on the surface of the coating base preparation layer. The plating layer contains, as constituent elements, Al, Zn, Si and Mg, and has an Al content of 25-75% by mass and an Mg content of 0.1-10% by mass. The plating layer contains an Si-Mg phase in an amount of 0.2-15% by volume, and the mass ratio of Mg in the Si-Mg phase to the total mass of Mg in the plating layer is from 3% to 100% (inclusive). The coating base preparation layer contains an organic resin and an organosilicon compound, and the organosilicon compound is contained in an amount of 2-1,500 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the organic resin. The organic coating film has a thickness of 0.2-100 μm.
