Abstract:
Disclosed is a tool (1) for friction stir joining, which is capable of promoting the temperature rise of a material to be joined at the time of joining to perform friction stir joining in a short time, wherein a coating layer (3) has excellent thermal insulating properties, and excellent resistance to oxidation and resistance to wear. Specifically disclosed is a tool (1) for friction stir joining which includes a base material (2), and a coating layer (3) formed on the base material (2), wherein the coating layer (3) consists of one or more layers, and at least one layer thereof has a heat permeability of 5000 J/s0.5·m2·K or less.
