Abstract:
A coated tool having an aluminum oxide layer with improved wear resistance is provided. The coated tool is a cutting tool (1) or other tool, provided with a base body (5) and a coating layer (6) which is formed on a surface of the base body (5), and having a cutting edge (4) and a flank face (3) on the coating layer (6). The coating layer (6) includes a section where at least a titanium carbonitride layer (8) and an aluminum oxide layer (10) having an α-type crystal structure are sequentially layered. Regarding a texture coefficient Tc (hkl) calculated based on the peak of the aluminum oxide layer (10) as analyzed by means of X-ray diffraction analysis, the texture coefficient Tc1 (146) at the flank face (3) as measured from the front surface side of the aluminum oxide layer (10) is 1.0 or greater.
