Abstract:
A coating composition for expandable polystyrene particles according to the present invention comprises: about 100 parts by weight of a thermosetting resin comprising about 60-90 wt% of phenol resin and about 10-40 wt% of melamine resin; about 0.5-2 parts by weight of a curing agent; about 10-50 parts by weight of aluminum hydroxide; about 10-30 parts by weight of expandable graphite; and about 6-20 parts by weight of a hollow inorganic filler, wherein the weight ratio of the expandable graphite to the hollow inorganic filler is about 1:0.2 to about 1:2. The coating composition for expandable polystyrene particles can improve flame resistance, thermal insulation, and the like of expandable polystyrene particles and an expanded molded product.
