Abstract:
Provided is a coating composition for undercoating which can, in the case of forming a gas barrier layer, that has a crosslinked structure between a polycarboxylic acid-based polymer and a polyvalent metal ion, by heating at a low temperature for a short period of time, easily and quickly supply the polyvalent metal ion to the polycarboxylic acid-based polymer over the whole gas barrier layer.
The coating composition comprises, as the main components, a non-aqueous polyester polyol, an isocyanate compound and an alkaline compound of a polyvalent metal capable of serving as an ion source for forming the aforesaid crosslinked structure, characterized in that:
(a) said non-aqueous polyester polyol comprises, as an essential component, a non-aqueous polyester polyol containing a metallic element in the resin skeleton thereof; and
(b) said alkaline compound of a polyvalent metal has an average primary particle diameter being in the range of 0.005-0.5 μm.
