Abstract:
This coating device has: a backup roller (20) for rotating while holding a base material; a nozzle (31) for spraying material towards the base material held by the backup roller (20); and a measurement unit (37) for measuring the amount of change in a gap (G). A cylindrically shaped suction surface (21) for picking up base material and a cylindrically shaped surface (81) to be measured rotating along with the suction surface (21) are provided on the periphery of the backup roller (20). Of the suction surface (21) and the surface (81) to be measured, only the suction surface (21) is provided with a plurality of suction holes. The measurement unit (37) measures the gap (G) by making a measuring element (374) come into contact with the surface (81) to be measured. Thus, amount of change in the gap (G) can be measured without damaging the suction surface (21) of the backup roller (20).
