Abstract:
The present invention makes it possible to make the amount of adhering coating material uniform over an entire application area on the outer peripheral surface of an application roller and uniformly apply the coating material to a sheet while reducing the effort and time required to fabricate a plate-like member and an application roller. Coating material J is supplied to the outer peripheral surface of an application roller 2 in a coating material supply location A1 on the upstream side in the direction of roller rotation. Excess coating material J is removed from the outer peripheral surface of the application roller 2 by bringing the tip side 5a of a plate-like member 5A into the proximity of or into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the application roller 2 at a coating material amount adjusting location A2 more to the downstream side in the direction of roller rotation than the coating material supply location A1. The coating material J is applied to a sheet S by the outer peripheral surface of the application roller 2 coming into contact with the outer surface of the sheet S at an application location A3 more to the downstream side in the direction of roller rotation than the coating material amount adjusting location A2. The plate-like member 5A is given a curved shape curved toward the downstream side in the direction of roller rotation, and the outer surface of the tip side 5a of the curved-shape plate-like member 5A is placed in proximity to or in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the application roller 2 at the coating material amount adjusting location A2.
