Abstract:
This coating removal tool removes, from an optical fiber core having glass fiber and a resin coating that covers the outer periphery of the glass fiber, the resin coating positioned on the distal-end part of the optical fiber core. The coating removal tool comprises a first holding unit that holds the resin coating positioned on the distal-end part, a second holding unit that is positioned along the extension direction of the optical fiber core relative to the first holding unit and holds a base-end part adjacent to the distal-end part of the optical fiber core, and a pedestal part that is provided in a direction intersecting the extension direction of the optical fiber core relative to the first holding unit and the second holding unit and holds the first holding unit and the second holding unit. The first holding unit has a heater that heats the resin coating positioned on the distal-end part, and a blade that enters a notch in the resin coating, the first holding unit being provided so as to be capable of sliding in the extension direction of the optical fiber core relative to the pedestal part. The second holding unit is secured relative to the pedestal part.
