Abstract:
The present invention provides a codec rate adjustment method, device and Media GateWay (MGW). The codec rate adjustment method includes the following steps: the MGW judges whether the initial codec rate of a first interface is consistent with the initial codec rate of a second interface or of a third interface, wherein the first interface is an A interface between a Base Station Subsystem (BSS) and the MGW, the second interface is an Nb interface between the MGW and an MGW at opposite end, and the third interface is an Iu interface between a Radio Network Subsystem (RNS) and the MGW; when the initial codec rate of the first interface is not consistent with the initial codec rate of the second interface or of the third interface, the MGW adjusts the initial codec rate of the second interface or of the third interface to be the initial codec rate of the first interface. The initial codec rate of the Iu interface or of the Nb interface is adjusted, by the MGW, to be consistent with the initial codec rate of the A interface, thereby the rapid adjustment of the codec rate is realized and the voice service quality is improved. In addition, the not timely adjustment of the codec rate is avoided, wherein the not timely adjustment is caused by the slower process of initiating a rate slow-down request after the poor quality of the voice service is found out.
