Abstract:
Provided is a coding method for coding an image to be coded using a reference image, the coding method comprising: a specification step for specifying a reference area that is a part of the reference image and corresponds to an area to be coded that is an area obtained by dividing the image to be coded; and a prediction step for acquiring a prediction area with respect to the area to be coded by prediction performed using the reference area. The area to be coded and the reference area have a different size and/or a different shape from each other. In the specification step, when the image to be coded and the reference image are acquired, the reference area is specified by using a difference, caused by motion to a camera, in how the object corresponding to the area to be coded and that corresponding to the reference area appear in the image.
