Abstract:
Provided is a coherent light source device and projector which avoid the problem of the uniformity of projected light being degraded as a result of speckle, which is a problem that unavoidably appears when projecting a semiconductor or other laser, or coherent light generated by wavelength conversion of a laser. This coherent light source device has a light emission region formed by a coherent light source, and a light mixing means which mixes, and emits from the exit end, the angle and position components of rays of luminous flux which are emitted from the light emitting region and are incident at the incident end, wherein the light mixing means is a waveguide which confines light in a space surrounded by a light-reflecting lateral surface and propagates said light from the incident end to the exit end. The light-reflecting lateral surface includes at least one surface that is not a square plane, and a shape which is not related by similar parallel translation to the shape of the exit end is included in a light-reflecting lateral surface cross section that is perpendicular to the axis taken in the overall propagation direction of the light in the light mixing means.
