Abstract:
This invention relates to a technique of measuring the width (l) of a coil material (3) supplied to a press line. Migration of both support shafts (4) of an uncoiler mechanism (1) for supporting at both ends the coil material (3) by a rack (8) and pinion (5) mechanism is converted to rotation and actual migration (L1 + L2) of the support shafts (4) is detected by detecting this rotation. The coil width (l) is measured by subtracting the migration (L1 + L2) from the distance (L) between the support shafts when both support shafts (4) are positioned at predetermined retracted positions. The actually measured coil width (l) is compared with a coil width data (lc) that is inputted in advance to check for any coil set error.
