A coin sorting apparatus capable of switching the stored quantity of coins and returning the coins without using a return button. The device body (2) of the coin sorting apparatus (1) comprises a coin throw-in slot (35) and a coin ejection slot (36), and a rotating body (90) operated by a handle (250) is rotatably installed in the device body. A coin storage part (135) capable of storing, in a stacked state, the plurality of coins thrown-in from the coin throw-in slot is formed in the rotating body (90). The coin storage part (135) comprises a first coin storage part (140) formed in the rotating body (90) and a second coin storage part (154) formed in a switching member (150). The switching member (150) forms the coin storage part (135) when rotated in one direction since the second coin storage part is overlapped with the first coin storage part. When the switching member is rotated in the other direction, the second coin storage part comes of the first coin storage part, and the coin storage part is formed by the first coin storage part.
