The purpose of the present disclosure is to provide a cold heat source unit for a refrigeration cycle device with improved detection accuracy for liquid return, and the refrigeration cycle device.　A cold heat source unit (100) is connected to a load device (101) and constitutes a refrigeration cycle device (200). The cold heat source unit (100) comprises: a compressor (1); a condenser (3); an oil separator (2) that separates refrigeration oil from the mixture of refrigerant and refrigeration oil to be delivered from the compressor (1) to the condenser (3); an oil return pipe (9) that sends the refrigeration oil separated by the oil separator (2) to the suction pipe (10) of the compressor; a first temperature sensor (8) that detects the temperature of the refrigerant being delivered from the suction pipe (10) to the compressor (1); and a control device (50) that controls the compressor (1). The control device (50) is configured so as to report an abnormality when the temperature detected by the first temperature sensor (8) rises above a determination temperature.
