Abstract:

A collapsible shipping bin, the sides of which may be raised to a range of heights, said bin comprising a fabricated metal base structure, four telescopic pillars able to be collapsed and pivotally displaced to a horizontal position, pillar latches to retain said pillars at various degrees of vertical extension, roller shutter-type panels which are slidingly supported in tracks fixed to said pillars, panel latches to retain said roller shutter-type panels in their raised position, a strong, peripheral guard rail passing around said base structure to accept lifting forces, and optional covers to protect the contents of said shipping bin from the elements or to prevent theft or loss; said shipping bin adapted to be lifted and safely stacked while heavily loaded.
