Abstract:
A receiver assembly (10) adapted to receive and positively hold a mounting post (P) of a useful accessory is provided. The receiver assembly (10) includes a frame (12), a hitch receiver box (18) carried on the frame (12) and an accessory receiver (24) carried on the frame (12). The accessory receiver (24) includes an accessory port (28) for receiving the mounting post (P) of the accessory. Additionally, the receiver assembly (10) includes a locking assembly (30) for positively securing the mounting post (P) to the accessory receiver (24). The locking assembly (30) includes at least one locking element (34) received in the receiving aperture (32) and an actuator (36). The actuator (36) is displaceable between an unlocked position wherein the locking element (34) engages only in the receiving aperture (32), and a second, aligned aperture (G) in the mounting post (P) so as to positively secure the mounting post (P) in the accessory receiver (24).
