Abstract:
This collision energy absorption component for automobiles 1 is to be installed in a front section or a rear section of a vehicle body and absorbs collision energy upon input of a collision load from the front direction or the rear direction of the car body. This collision energy absorption component for automobiles 1 comprises: a tubular member 3 collapsing axially to absorb the collision energy, and having a ceiling plate section and vertical wall sections continuous therewith; and a resin 9 coated or pasted on the outer surface of at least the ceiling plate section and the vertical wall sections of the tubular member 3. With a thickness of 8 mm or less post-heating, the coated or pasted resin 9 forms at least a portion of a section that is the peripheral wall section of a closed cross-sectional space, and is adhered to the outer surface with an adhesive strength of 10 MPa or greater.
