Abstract:

There is provided a technique for estimating an image color. The color extraction method includes: a luminance calculation step for calculating luminance in a color extraction region contained in an image as an object for color extraction and storing the obtained luminance in a storage device; and a color name extraction step for referencing a luminance database containing the color name and the luminance corresponding to the color name and using the luminance in the color extraction region stored in the storage device so as to extract a color name in the color extraction region. This enables a user to estimate a color even in a monochromatic image or a color image captured at night.
