Abstract:
The present invention provides a field-sequential color image display device whereby color breakup is curbed and any increase in consumed power is also suppressed. A liquid crystal display device displays a color image in a field-sequential scheme in which each frame period includes four field periods corresponding to four colors, which are white, blue, green, and red, the liquid crystal display device being provided with: a light source unit including blue LEDs, green LEDs, and red LEDs; and a light source drive circuit. The light source drive circuit generates a blue light source control signal CswB, a green light source control signal CswG, and a red light source control signal CswR, and drives the light source unit on the basis of these signals. At such time, the light source drive circuit generates the light source control signals CswB, CswG, CswR so that in a lighting period Ton of a white field period Tw, the blue LEDs, green LEDs, and red LEDs emit light in the stated order, and, for each of the colors, the light-emitting periods are arranged symmetrically in the time direction, with a central time point of the lighting period Ton as the axis of symmetry.
