Abstract:
A comb-shaped polymer which has a trunk portion and two or more branch portions bonded to the trunk portion, and wherein: the trunk portion contains a constituent unit derived from styrene and a constituent unit derived from a (meth)acrylate; the two or more branch portions may be the same as or different from each other; each branch portion contains a constituent unit derived from a (meth)acrylate; and each branch portion is bonded to a benzene ring of the constituent unit derived from styrene via a linking group at different positions of the trunk portion. A method for producing this comb-shaped polymer; and a viscosity index improver which contains this comb-shaped polymer.
