Abstract:

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a combined oil control ring having a low tension with a small variance in tension, superior wear resistance, and superior sludge resistance, the combined oil control ring comprising: a pair of ring-shaped side rails having abutments; and an axial waveform-shaped spacer expander which is interposed between the side rails and has, on an inner peripheral portion thereof, lug sections pressing the inner peripheral surfaces of the side rails, wherein a nitride layer is formed on the side rail pressing surfaces of the lug sections, a plated film is coated over the entire surface of the spacer expander except for the portion on which the nitride layer is formed, and the plated film is made to have a Vickers hardness of 300 HV0.01 or less.
