Abstract:

Provided is a combined oil ring which permits oil consumption to be reduced and the performance of which remains unchanged for a long period of time. More specifically, provided is a combined oil ring consisting of an oil ring body which is formed by two rails connected together by a column section and has an approximately I-shaped cross section, and of an expander which is disposed in an inner circumferential groove formed on the inner circumferential surface of the oil ring body column section and applies force to the oil ring body in such a way as to press the same radially outward. This combined oil ring is such that the oil ring body is made of steel; that protruding sections are formed by grinding part of the tips of sliding section protuberances which are formed on the two rails in the oil ring body; that the axial length of each of the protruding sections is 0.02 to 0.18 mm; and that the change rate of the axial length of each of the protruding sections is 0 to 80% or less at least in a region from the sliding surface between the cylinder and the tip of each of the protruding sections to a portion 0.03 mm away from the aforementioned sliding surface in the radial direction of the oil ring body.
