Abstract:
This combustion control device for a compression autoignition engine comprises an engine (1), a state quantity setting device (23, 24, 43, 48, 54), an ignition plug (25), a controller (ECU 10), and sensors (SW1 to SW16). By receiving a control signal from the controller, the ignition plug ignites a gas mixture at a predetermined ignition timing such that the ignited gas mixture burns by flame propagation, and then an unburned gas mixture in a combustion chamber (17) burns by autoignition. The controller outputs a control signal to an injector (6) such that, during a compression stroke, fuel is injected at a specific timing at which an extended line of an axis of an injection opening of the injector overlaps a specific section including an opening edge of a cavity (31) in an upper surface of a piston (3).
