Abstract:
A communication device is composed of a prioritized buffer wherein high-priority packets are stored, a non-prioritized buffer wherein other packets are stored, and a communication control unit that determines upon a transmission parameter using an adaptive modulation method, and the communication device transmits packets successively according to the transmission parameter. The communication control unit changes the weighting given to the prioritized buffer and the non-prioritized buffer according to the transmission parameter, and also calculates the maximum transmission capacity of the buffers. The communication control unit also assesses whether the maximum transmission capacity that is determined according to the weighting of the prioritized buffer is equal to or greater than a pre-configured threshold value, and when the maximum transmission capacity of the prioritized buffer is less than the pre-configured threshold value, the communication control unit will perform recalculations of the maximum transmission capacity with the weighting of the prioritized buffer changed, and make the recalculation result become equal to or more than the threshold value. By doing this, a maximum transmission capacity necessary for high-priority packets is secured, regardless of changes in the transmission parameter.
