A communication device mounting position determination system and determination apparatus are provided which enable relaxing limitations on where a device can be installed in a vehicle. An ECU 10 transmits an LF signal from an LF antenna 11 to sensor units 30. The sensor units 30 receive the LF signal from the ECU 10 and detect the signal intensity of the received LF signal. The sensor units 30 transmit to the ECU, as a UHF signal, information including the detected signal intensity of the LF signal. The ECU 10 receives the UHF signals from the sensor units 30 and detects the signal intensity of the UHF signals. For example, on the basis of the signal intensity of the LF signal received by each sensor unit 30, the ECU 10 makes a determination about whether the sensor unit 30 that is the transmission source of a UHF signal is disposed in a vehicle wheel 2 on the left or the right side of the body of the vehicle 1. Further, on the basis of the signal intensity of the UHF signal from each sensor unit 30 received by the ECU 10, said ECU 10 makes a determination about whether said transmission source is disposed to the front or back in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body.
