A communication device is provided with: an opposed port determination unit (201) which determines whether a device connected to a reception port (200) is a terminal node that becomes a transmission source or destination of an Ethernet frame, or a communication device that forwards the Ethernet frame; a transmission destination determination unit (203) which, if the opposed port determination unit (201) determines that the terminal node is connected, determines whether cut-through forwarding of the Ethernet frame is to be performed or not; and a label control unit (207) which, if the transmission destination determination unit (203) determines that the cut-through forwarding is to be performed, rewrites the address of a destination address region of the Ethernet frame as a label value and an instruction bit, and if the opposed port determination unit (201) determines that the communication device is connected, rewrites the label value and the instruction bit of the destination address region of the Ethernet frame as an address indicating the terminal node that is the destination of the Ethernet frame.
