Abstract:

Provided is a communication medium identification device wherein it is possible to easily identify the communication medium that is performing communication between two network devices. The communication medium identification device for identifying the communication medium for communicating in a given communication path is provided with: a communication performance acquisition unit (303) which acquires a value indicating the communication speed in a given communication path when equipment which reduces the communication speed of a specific communication medium upon being started is started, and when said equipment is stopped; and a communication medium determination unit (301) which determines whether or not communication in a given communication path is performed by a specific communication medium, the determination thereof being ascertained by using a speed reduction indication value which is a value indicating the amount by which the communication speed of a specific communication medium reduces when the abovementioned equipment is started, and a speed difference indication value which is the difference between the values representing the communication speed acquired by the communication performance acquisition unit (303) of when said equipment is started and stopped.
