Abstract:
Embodiments of the present application relates to the technical field of communications. Disclosed are a communication method and apparatus, capable of making a terminal and an access network device use consistent security verification parameters, thereby successfully implementing security check during a radio access network notification area update (RNAU) process. The method may comprise: sending a first message to an access network device, the first message being used for requesting to recover a radio resource control (RRC) connection or requesting to perform RNAU; receiving a second message from the access network device, the second message comprising first information, and the first information being associated with a security verification parameter; and determining the security verification parameter according to first information.
