Abstract:
Embodiments of the preset application relate to the field of communications and provide a communication method and apparatus. The method comprises: a first network device sends at least one of processing capacity indication information and a capacity filtering parameter to a second network device; the second network device determines the level and range of the capacity of a terminal device according to the at least one of the processing capacity indication information and the capacity filtering parameter, and sends the level and range of the capacity of the terminal device to the first network device. The processing capacity indication information is used for indicating a processing capability of the first network device, and the processing capability comprises at least one of a capacity processing level of the first network device and a capability processing threshold of the first network device; the capacity filtering parameter is used for indicating the range of capability information. By means of the method, the problem that a network side cannot know the full capability or a specific capability of the terminal device can be solved, and reporting of the capability of the terminal device is optimized.
