Abstract:
The present application relates to the technical field of communications. Provided are a communication method and apparatus, which are used for proposing a mode for providing a multicast service for a terminal device. The method comprises: an SMF receiving a first message from a terminal, wherein the first message comprises a multicast address; the SMF sending a second message to an NRF, wherein the second message is used for querying for an SMF that establishes a multicast session for a multicast service corresponding to the multicast address; a first SMF receiving a third message from the NRF, wherein the third message is used for indicating a query failure for the SMF that establishes the multicast session for the multicast service corresponding to the multicast address; and the first SMF sending a fourth message to the terminal, wherein the fourth message is used for instructing to reject the terminal to join the multicast session corresponding to the multicast address. A multicast session establishment scenario is distinguished from a multicast session configuration scenario by means of a second message, and authorization verification can be performed on a multicast service. When authorization verification is not passed, an NRF does not allocate an SMF to a first SMF to establish a multicast session, thereby rationally providing a multicast service for a terminal device.
