Abstract:
Disclosed in the embodiments of the present application are a communication method and apparatus. An access network device sends to a terminal device first instruction information for instructing the terminal device to start a first timer, and second instruction information for adjusting, within the operation period of the first timer, an on-duration in a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle, such that the terminal device can monitor, according to the first instruction information and the second instruction information, a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) within the adjusted on-duration in the DRX cycle. A terminal device can adjust an on-duration in a DRX cycle according to an instruction from an access network device, such that data retransmission can be avoided, thereby shortening the transmission delay of data.
