Abstract:
Embodiments of the present application provide a communication method and a communication apparatus. The method may comprise: a terminal device receives first information and second information, the first information comprising at least one MCCH configuration and an effective area of the at least one MCCH configuration, and the second information being used for indicating a first area identifier or a cell identifier; if the first area identifier or the cell identifier belongs to the effective area, the terminal device receives an MCCH message from a second network device in an idle state or an inactive state according to a first MCCH configuration, the first MCCH configuration being determined according to the first area identifier or the cell identifier; and if the first area identifier or the cell identifier does not belong to the effective area, the terminal device sends a radio resource control (RRC) recovery request message to the second network device. In this way, the terminal device can obtain the MCCH configuration. In addition, a terminal device that does not join a multicast session can also be prevented from acquiring the MCCH configuration, thereby ensuring the security of an MCCH.
