Abstract:
Disclosed in embodiments of the present invention are a communication method for an Ethernet passive optical network, an optical network unit, and an optical line terminal, which can improve the bandwidth efficiency in a multi-LLID mode in an EPON. The method in an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an ONU generates a first control frame, the first control frame comprising a first data domain, and the first data domain comprising a bandwidth requirement of at least one logical link identity (LLID); and the ONU sends the first control frame to an optical line terminal (OLT). In another aspect, the method comprises: the OLT generates a second control frame, the second control frame comprising a second data domain, and the second data domain comprising authorization information of the at least one LLID; and the OLT sends the second control frame to an ONU. In one aspect of the embodiments of the present invention, bandwidth requirements of multiple LLIDs can be added to the first control frame, so that one control frame can report the bandwidth requirements of the multiple LLIDs; in another aspect, the second control frame can authorize multiple LLIDs in one ONU, and one frame carries more useful information, and accordingly the bandwidth can be saved, and the bandwidth efficiency can be improved.
