[Problem] To provide a communication system for authentication, with which it is easy to improve convenience when a portable terminal device is exchanged. [Solution] This communication system for authentication includes: a server device 2; a terminal device 3 which is capable of transmitting and receiving data to and from the server device 2, and which is capable of performing short-range radio communication in which the distance over which data transmission and reception is possible is within a range at most equal to a predetermined communication distance, at the vicinity of a subject device; and a wristband 4 capable of performing short-range radio communication, and capable of being carried by a user. The server device 2 associates together and stores a wristband ID and a usage key for authentication, transmits the wristband ID and the usage key to the wristband 4 via the terminal device 3, and causes the wristband 4 to store the wristband ID and the usage key, transmits the wristband ID and the usage key to an automobile 5, and causes the automobile 5 to store the wristband ID and the usage key, and performs authentication based on the wristband ID and the usage key, by means of short-range radio communication between the wristband 4 and the automobile 5.
