Abstract:
The present invention provides: a communication system and a communication method that can reduce interference between communication terminal devices and increase system capacity, and that can prevent reductions to communication performance that are associated with the movement of a communication terminal device; and a base station device and a communication terminal device that form the communication system. Specifically provided is a communication system, wherein a base station 1001 transmits and receives signals using an array antenna unit 1002 composed of a plurality of antenna elements. The base station 1001 can form a plurality of directional beams having differing beam widths by means of the array antenna unit 1002. The base station 1001 controls the beam widths of the directional beams used in transmitting to and receiving from communication terminals by means of a control unit 1003 and a beam width selection unit 1009, on the basis of feedback information provided from the communication terminals.
