Abstract:
A counter (11), synchronized with a counter (26) in another communication device (2), outputs a first counter value that indicates a point in time before a processing unit (13) that processes PTP packets receives input. A multiplexing unit (12) multiplexes said first counter value onto a PTP packet. The other counter (26) outputs a second counter value that indicates the point in time at which another processing unit (23) that processes PTP packets finishes processing. A counter-value extraction unit (24) extracts the first counter value from the aforementioned PTP packet. On the basis of the second counter value, the first counter value, and the value of a correction field in the PTP packet that represents the total delay introduced by relay devices, a modification unit (25) computes a modified value and modifies the correction field therewith. A communication system, method for controlling a communication system, transmission device, and reception device whereby a delay field can be modified using a simple architecture are thus provided.
