Abstract:
The present invention is capable of eliminating audio delays due to fluctuations and such in network bandwidth, and is capable of reducing the server device load at the time of voice telephone calls between terminals with different audio codecs, such as between a thin client terminal and a non-thin client terminal. A server device (110) performs the following: estimates a network bandwidth; determines the audio codec bit rate for a first terminal (170) and/or second terminal (175); notifies the first and/or second terminal of the determined bit rate; decodes a code encoded with an audio codec for the first terminal or second terminal for a time interval in which a signal obtained from a portion of a code based on the audio codec for the first terminal or second terminal satisfies a preset condition; and performs transcoding in which the decoded signal is encoded at the determined bit rate using an encoding method corresponding to the audio codec of the second or first terminal, and sends the transcoded code to the second terminal or the first terminal (170).
