Abstract:
A communication system and method capable of handling algorithms and having a
communication extensibility, an information processing device and method, a
device, a program, and a recording medium. An ability list (102) stores an ability list
showing abilities about algorithms of ciphering and deciphering which a reader/writer
(100) handles. Similarly, an ability list (202) stores an ability list showing
abilities about algorithms of ciphering and deciphering which an IC card (200)
handles. The reader/writer (100) and the IC card (200) exchange their ability
lists, select algorithms ensuring security levels corresponding to the degrees
ofimportance of communicated data, and perform communication according to
the selected algorithm. The invention can be applied to devices performing NFCIP
communication.
