Abstract:
A compact fluorescent lamp not inviting an increase of the size of the chalk coil
and leading to power saving. A compact fluorescent lamp comprises a luminescent
tube having a glass tube constituting a one electric discharge path and electrodes
sealed in both ends of the glass tube and an operating unit for operating the luminescent
tube. The operating unit has a rectifying/smoothing circuit, an inverter circuit
for switching the output from the rectifying/smoothing circuit and applying
high-frequency power to the luminescent tube, and a resonance circuit using
a chalk coil connected in series to the luminescent tube so as to permit the luminescent
tube to emit light with a luminance almost equal to that of 60W incandescent lamp.
The impedance of the luminescent tube during the normal operation is set in a
range from 1.0 kΩ to 3.0 kΩ. The chalk coil is formed of a copper wire
having a cross section of from 0.02 mm2 to 0.03 mm2.
