A compaction auger mechanism for a cotton baler, comprising: a box body (1); a compaction auger (5), comprising an auger shaft (51) rotatably connected to the box body (1) and an auger blade fixed on the auger shaft (51), the auger shaft (51) transmitting and compacting cotton by means of the auger blade during rotation of the auger shaft (51); at least two through-beam sensors (2), the through-beam sensors (2) being sequentially arranged in the box body (1) along the axial direction of the auger shaft (51); an auger rotation driving apparatus (7), the auger shaft (51) being connected to an output end of the auger rotation driving device (7); and a control apparatus, the through-beam sensors (2) and the auger rotation driving device (7) both being communicatively connected to the control apparatus. The invention also comprises a cotton picker. The compaction auger mechanism for a cotton baler and a cotton picker can quickly loosen cotton, and improve operational safety of equipment.
