According to the invention, a component, in particular a brake disc (1) or a wheel hub of a motor vehicle, which is provided with a pole wheel (3), wherein the rotationally fixedly fastened pole wheel is composed of a magnetically conductive material with a plurality of teeth (8) which are arranged with a uniform angular spacing to one another, is designed such that the pole wheel (3) is formed from a material strip which is shaped into a ring and is joined together at the ends.
