Abstract:
A component for a vehicle interior configured for airbag deployment is disclosed. The component may comprise a beam structure such as a cross-car beam providing a mounting structure such as a housing for an airbag system providing an airbag assembly. The airbag assembly may be assembled directly to the beam; the inflator may couple/clamp the airbag assembly to the beam. The airbag assembly may comprise a retainer; the airbag may be coupled to the beam between inflator and retainer and/or between beam and retainer. The beam may comprise a mounting structure/frame such as the housing for the airbag assembly at/along or below the beam. The airbag system may comprise an airbag assembly with body/base and/or retainer for attachment of the inflator. The beam with mounting structure may be integrally-formed and/or a composite material and/or a molded plastic material and/or a molded structure.
