Abstract:
Provided is a composite battery such that the lifespan of the overall composite battery can be extended as a result of effectively controlling the degradation of a lead storage battery even if the battery temperature fluctuates due to changes in the ambient temperature and repeated charging and discharging. A composite battery 10 includes a lead storage battery 12 having a rated voltage of 12V, and a sub-battery 14. The lead storage battery 12 includes a pair of output terminals 12t. The sub-battery 14 is configured by connecting in series or in parallel at least one lithium ion secondary battery cell 141, and the sub-battery includes a pair of lead wires 14w that are connected in parallel to the pair of output terminals 12t of the lead storage battery 12. The lithium ion secondary battery cell 141 is configured such that, if the lithium ion secondary battery cell 141 is charged to a voltage substantially equal to a value found by dividing the time-of-discharge maximum voltage of the composite battery 10 by the number of series connections of lithium ion secondary battery cells 141 in the sub-battery 14, and then is left for one week in an approximately 80ºC environment, the increase rate of 1kHz AC impedance from the start of the period of being left will be no more than 10%.
